COMPETITION GUIDLINES

• GROUNDBREAKING

  This level is designed for competitors who participate less than 3 hours in dance class per week at their studios. Entries will be adjudicated and will receive High Score awards within the Groundbreaking Level. There is no cash/credit prize or Title competition at this level. Please note: Routines competing in the Groundbreaking Level that are obviously under placed may be elevated to the Cutting Edge Level of competition at the discretion of the judges. All judges’ decisions are final.

• TITLE

  Each dancer may submit up to three solo routines for Title per a regional competition at a cost of $50.00 per Title routine registration. Title scores will be separate from the traditional 1 to 100 points per judge adjudication scores. Dancers will receive a score from 1 to 50 points per judge per registered Title routine to culminate their Title score.

• CUTTING EDGE

  This level is designed for competitors who participate 3 – 5 hours of dance class per week at their studios. Entries will be adjudicated and will receive High Score awards within the Cutting Edge Level. There is cash/credit prize & Title competition (combined with Legendary Level) at this level. Please note: Routines competing in the Cutting Edge Level that are obviously under placed may be elevated to the Legendary Level of competition at the discretion of the judges. All judges’ decisions are final.

• IMPROV

  1. Four age divisions – Mini, Junior, Teen, Senior
  2. Music is randomly chosen for each dancer
  3. 45 seconds to dance with a 10 second countdown
  4. Winner in each age division
  5. Winners receive a $25.00 gift card to Intrigue/Hype and an Exclusive T-shirt!
  6. Limited Space

• LEGENDARY

  This level is designed for competitors who participate in 5+ hours of dance class per week at their studios and have a strong participation in competitive events. Entries will be adjudicated and will receive High Score awards within the Legendary Level. There is cash/credit prize & Title competition (combined with Cutting Edge level) at this level.

AWARDS & SCORING

• LEGENDARY STUDIO

  Studios with 15 group entries or more will be considered for the Legendary Studio Award. The highest scoring entry from each qualified studio will be awarded the Legendary Studio Award. Winning entry will receive a 20% discount on entry fee at Nationals plus ALL competing dancers in the winning entry will be rewarded with free access to Intrigue/Hype Nationals workshop classes!

  *Qualifying studios can only be awarded with one Legendary Studio Award per event.

• CHOREO. & HYPE AWARD

  Choreography and HYPE awards will be handed out by the judges discretion.

  Choreography Award – Stand out group choreography performance

  Hype Award – High energy complex group performance

• HIGH SCORE AWARDS

  High score credit awards will be presented to the overall scores in each division with three or more entries and meets qualifications. Credit is good for any Intrigue Dance Intensive or Hype Dance Competition event only.

  Solo: $75
  Duo/Trio: $75
  Small Group (4-9): $100
  Large Group (10-15): $100
  Line (16-24): $100
  Production (25-49): $150
  Ext. Production (50+): $200
  Overall High Score of Competition: $225
  

• SCORING

  All entries are adjudicated by three judges. Each judge scores on a basis of 1 to 100 points. The combined score of the judges is the total score.

   

  Legendary 291– 300
  Platinum 276 – 290.99
  High Gold 261 – 275.99
  Gold 246 – 260.99
  Silver 231 – 245.99
  Bronze 216 – 230.99
